The first international tournament for Gambit’s CS:GO new roster has finished earlier than we expected. Our team had to leave ESWC after the quarterfinals. However, our squad had quite a few achievements.
The first day of ESWC was very productive for Gambit. Problems with delays and absence of mou’s mouse couldn’t break our team’s competitive spirit. In the first game against the secondary roster of GODSENT our squad was quite initiative, with Daniil "Zeus" Teslenko and Abay "HObbit" Khassenov making their energetic debut under the new name. We won the Overpass map with a score of 16:6.
Match with a Bulgarian team Bpro determined who would be a leader of the group. The first half of the match ended for us with a stomping score of 12:3, but after the sides swap our team managed to make a hilarious comeback. As the result, we won with a 16:13 record and got the first place in a group! During the second day Gambit squad got a chance to spend their time outside of the tournament, take a break, walk through Paris and prepare for the future opponents.
Gambit were the team who opened the Round of 16. The third day of the tournament began with their match against Polish team PRIDE. Our guys were a clear favourite in this match-up, but Polish players turned out to be a strong opponent. In a 3-map thriller Gambit came out as a winner, but it took them a lot of efforts.
It influenced the match against Space Soldiers. From the first minutes Turkish squad took the initiative in their hands and quickly won the first map. Although our guys managed to do the same on the enemy pick, the third map went in favour of Space Soldiers. They won Dust2 with a 16:5 score and thanks to that continued their fight for the ESWC cup.
